New York Trends

After getting back from LFW I had the wonderful task of catching up on the work I'd missed. Fabulous!
The first brief of my new module was to create a Trend Booklet for New York. We basically had to choose things we thought were interesting, exciting and up and coming around the city.
I really loved Williamsburg and knew I definitely had to include the street art I found around there in my trend booklet! It made me realise that in the UK the graffiti is nothing near as 'special' and most of the time doesn't really look like a piece of art, as the pieces in Williamsburg did.

The feedback I got from Chris, on a whole, was good!
Some of the positives were:
- Good grid layout
- Simple and clear design
- Excellent choice of images
- Really liked the front cover (very punkish - Sex Pistols)

Some things I could change:
- I could make the font size smaller (10pt)
- Develop my point and thoughts on graffiti
- After the minimalist pages I could include some VM that was the opposite.

Fashion Galore!

I have wrote about Isabella Blow on this blog so many times but I am just so fascinated by her life!

When I was in London for LFW me and my friend Lucy, who was also interning at Trace, went to visit the Isabelle Blow: Fashion Galore! exhibition. It was so interesting and it made me realise just how much she had going on in her life.

I've always had a huge interest in Philip Treacy's work as well, which is how I initially discovered Isabella. Seeing the hats he had designed for her in person was really exciting - for me anyway! Although I absolutely loved the exhibition at Somerset House I'm not sure if you would if you didn't know a lot about her and her life. But either way, I would recommend that everyone goes at visits!

London Fashion Week A/W 2014

I can't explain how lucky I feel...

These past few weeks have been an absolute whirlwind!

After emailing COUNTLESS PR Companies about work experience over London Fashion Week I finallllly got a response from Trace Publicity saying they would love for me to help for a week in the run up to LFW and then work two shows! Amaaaazing!

The week entailed of tasks such as writing and delivering invites for LFW, making goody bags for Boux Avenue and other PR taks but, the best part of the work experience was definitely working at both the Jean Pierre Braganza and Fyodor Golan shows. JPB was at Somerset House which was so cool! It was so amazing being able to work at a show never mind at Somerset House!! Fyodor Golan's show was literally outstanding. I loved every piece they showed and it was made even better as it was held in an 'abandoned' building which had been turned into a pink, fluffy paradise.

It was literally one the best weeks, I loved every moment of it (even if my feet didn't!). It got me so excited to get stuck into it for real when I graduate in 2 years. So exciting!

And on top of this I got an email while I was in London confirming my place at LOOK Magazine for a one month summer internship!!

Scent is everywhere

We've been given our groups for our fragrance project and it's getting me excited! This brief sounds so fun!

We've got the chance to design a brand, a concept for a new fragrance and direct a photo-shoot for the advertising campaign!

Before we started having a play around with ideas for our concept we looked at the already available products within the market:
- Candles
- Body spray/Deodorant
- Perfume
- Air Freshener
- Flowers
- Technology
- Aromatherapy

We started gathering secondary research, before our trip to London, and find out the trends within male and female fragrances. This gave us an understanding of the market and a rough idea of what area we want to look further into when we go on our trip to London for primary research. We decided to go for a bit of a unique concept rather than a standard, stereotypical body fragrance. Some of the ideas we came up with were:
- Innovation within fragrances (different ways it can be applied: gel, roll on)
- Personalisation (mixing scents)
- Aromatherapy
- Fragrance/scent within jewellery
